7 Healthy Habits to add to your new year’s resolutions.
2022 is finally a few days away, the last two years had been a roller coaster ride for everyone. The increasing Mortality rate due to Covid Pandemic had affected our mental and social health a lot. We’ve felt ourselves under a lot of pressure, We need to live with healthy habits, first off to be safe-to stay away from the deadly virus, to keep our mind sane, to make our days productive, learn new things, and make our lifestyle bit more easy with these healthy habits and cure us from inside out.
At the beginning of this year, we all have made new year resolutions to create change in our lifestyles. Some were inspired enough to achieve their resolutions while it was overwhelming for others. So in this post, I’m going to pen down a few healthy habits you can try to add to your resolutions too. But always remember, you don’t have to pressurize and exhaust yourselves to do these habits. As resolutions need time to get accomplished and become a habit, after all, we need to relax and be kind to our bodies.
HABITS
- Include balance exercises in your lifestyle
It is well said that to make life efficient and beautiful one needs to keep things in balance. From balancing your habits to diet everything is necessary for a healthy body, matching the quote our body structure also needs balance. It is a component of neuromotor training that keeps our body balanced and helps to improve its agility and mobility. You can try doing several yogic asanas to achieve balance in your life.
- Healthy Breakfast
Breakfast is the first meal of the day, so if you manage to eat healthy fibrous food which is high in protein then it will keep you energized throughout the day. Supervising your diet will help you to lower the risks of fatal diseases. Eating a healthy and balanced breakfast will let you reduce brain fog to keep your mind alert to work appropriately. For health-conscious ones, eating plain omelets might be a little boring- add toppings like cheese, veggies, favorite salsa, and much more to keep it healthy also tasty.
- Eat substitutes for unhealthy foods
Try to avoid foods and snacks that contain high calories And low health benefits. These kinds of foods should only be occasional treats as they have low nutritional values. It might take a lot to convince yourself to eat healthily, but always remember that good habits take time. Sometimes it’s okay to treat yourself to fast foods but it should only be periodically not daily. That’s why substitutes for unhealthy fast foods should be incorporated into your diet.
- Consume Greens in your meals
Add green vegetables like lettuce, spinach to your meals. Green vegetables are fibrous and help to fill the stomach and also are just a few calories. This kind of vegetable is highly nutritious and recommended by doctors to incorporate in diets.
- Be an early bird and go to bed earlier
Are you able to get a sleep of full 7-8 hours? I think you don’t. This is quite clear because in these busy schedules of our day-to-day life we are barely able to get proper sleep. Health experts say that proper sleep is a trait of a healthy heart. Shortness of sleep affects our health, as it restrains adequate production of our body hormones that obstruct appetite. This situation led to an increase in the risks of obesity, heart diseases. In the case of untreated insomnia or sleep apnea, one can also suffer from high blood pressure.
If you are not able to get those 7 – 8 hours of sleep consecutively, try taking short naps in between your schedule. But always remember to take naps only for 30 minutes or you might fall asleep at your work. Also, try to resist using your mobile phone before going to sleep.
“Go to bed early and wake up early” will change your health in a different yet beautiful way.
- Stay Hydrated
It’s a random phrase that we listen to every day and yet most of us don’t follow it. We all are well aware of the benefits of drinking water more than we do. It keeps our body temperature normal; it gets rid of wastes of our body through sweats, urination, and bowel movements; it also protects our sensitive nerves along with the spinal cord, and lubricates our joints, and cushions them well. Since more than half of our weight is water, drinking water would be the best option to keep our body hydrated. If you’re not a fan of plain water, try drinking fruit juices and stay hydrated.
- Try meditation or Yoga
Since childhood, we are always looking for work, and doing nothing is against our instinct. But it is necessary to take not more but a few minutes of yourself and spend time in only your presence. Meditation helps our minds to be healthy and function properly, it accumulates the Stillness of our brain and brings peace to our life.
Besides meditation, yoga also rehabilitates our health. There are several Yogic exercises one can practice daily and make themselves healthy. Suryanamaskar, Chakrasana, Ardhachakrasan, Vrikshasan are the name of a few yoga asanas which can be exercised daily. These few minutes of our lives are powerful than you can ever imagine.

During this pandemic, people lost many valuable things but we fought, we fought together for a better world. With the help of advancements in our scientific field, we were able to get vaccinated within one year of Covid.
